A good life is simple.

Climate protection – many people just switch off. Absolutely right! Nevertheless we should be switching off more: all of the screens, running engines and production lines loaded with cheap new things. In other words, all of the stuff that is meant to be making our life better, but in fact ends up making it much more complicated.

There are countries in the world that we call under-developed. So what do they call us? Correct: over-developed. Although all we want is a good life. But the only way of achieving a good life today is by cutting out things, doing things differently. Rather than sitting in a traffic jam, jumping on our bikes. Better for us, better for the climate. Why not?

Bike-riding rather than driving a car

Who can tell me why people would choose to drive into town in their cars, sit in a traffic jam and then end up finding nowhere to park rather than taking their bikes? It really doesn't take a Nobel prize.

minutes of sport per day reduces the risk of a heart attack by 50 percent

percent of Europe's citizens are overweight

percent of all CO2- emissions are caused by road traffic

Tap water rather than bottled water

Would you buy air in bags? Of course not. You can get it for free. But buying water in bottles is not much smarter. And it's heavier.

euro can be saved in households with 3 members only by drinking tab water instead of bottled water

trucks daily hit German roads only to transport bottled water

billion liters of oil are annually used in worldwide plastic bottles production

Rediscovering old things rather than buying new

"Shopping, shopping, shopping , shopping, shopping , shopping, shopping". Sounds crazy, doesn't it?

percent of clothes are stuck in the wardrobe unworn

million children work in cotton industries according to UNICEF

liters of water are used to produce a single T-shirt

Being active rather than gaming

"Looking for a non-sporty partner with the same hobbies as me: staring meaninglessly at a display and installing updates". Ever read anything like it? Think about it.

minutes of a teenager´s day are spent using the mobile phone. This increases the probability to become overweight to the threefold

million of mobile phones are discarded annually in Europe. The average useful life only adds up to 18 months

million tons of electronic scrap are annually produced worldwide

How do we want to live?

A lot of things have spiraled out of control in over-developed Europe. On the occasion of the European Year of Development (EYD 2015), the Climate Alliance is calling upon people to join the dialogue, get involved and reflect on global sustainability targets.

The facts show that something has to change and we can change something. It can be so simple to do so – a good life is simple! Join the campaign, speak to others about it and help shape a climate-friendly life together.

We would be happy to make the campaign materials available to you free of charge and would be delighted if you got involved!

Why wait when I could be doing something?
